A Thank You Note From Mom and Dad

A Note to Dad From Mom

The Wedding

On Wednesday January 5th, 2000 we checked out of Windsong Cottage--this was most difficult as it was like heaven--and drove down the Pacific Coast Highway to Morro Bay and then up to Atascadero. This was a wonderful drive and we watched the sunset as we drove. It was really beautiful!

We got into Atascadero and the Holloway's residence that evening. Dee and John's hospitality was the best!! They made us a fabulous dinner and we had a great time visiting. We got to see our baby Coonhound, Banjo, who is growing and looking great!

The next day,
Thursday January 6th, 2000,
was a great day for us. We slept in and hung out around the house in the morning. Late in the morning dad, mom and Dee went down to get the license. This took about 5 minutes. They had printed the application off the internet and filled it out so they were ready when they got there.

Now, mom is always telling Dee that "...you are the one who lives in the progressive state!" However, in Atascadero they are not as progressive as in some of the other places in California. When they walked in to get the license, dad told the lady that "We want to get a marriage license." Dee, never missing a beat, piped in "All three of us want to get married!" The color drained from the lady's face! Mom and Dee roared. It took the lady a minute to decide they were joking.

Around noon, Mom, Dad, Dee and John went down to Morro Bay. I got left home as the lady that owns the chapel had a cat wondering around the place and expressed concern about me being there. Mom decided that it was just easier to leave me home. She didn't want any hassels on her wedding day. I would not have bothered the cat, but I got left home anyway. Mom has promised that when they go back, I will get to go too!

After having lunch, they went to The Garden Wedding Chapel and mom and dad were married in a wonderful cermony in this beautiful little romantic chapel--I have seen the video. It was simple, but beautiful. Mom and dad look so happy.

One of the things that dad liked best about the cermony was the
Apache Wedding Prayer.
It just seemed to touch a special place in his heart.

After all the years mom and dad have been together I never thought they would actually get married. I am so happy that they did!! Mom and dad, somehow, just seem happier!
We are offically a family now.
